In this Photoshop tutorial, you will learn how to remove background from on object. Just follow the steps of this free Photoshop tutorial and you will see how easy is to remove a background from an object with the extract filter.
Let's say this is your image and you need to remove the blue background around the pen.

The first thing you should do is to go to the Filter tab, in the top bar menu of Photoshop and select the Extract option.

With the Edge Highlighter Tool selected you should draw over the edges of your object. If you can't keep the pointer on the edges you may use the Smart highlighting option. Just check it to turn it on. The brush size should also be set according to the size of your image. For a better result you should use the zoom feature, to see your object's edges better.

At the end all the edges of your object should be highlighted, like in this image.

When you are sure there are no disconnections in the highlight, select the Fill Tool and fill the object inside the highlighted edges. It should look like in the next image.

When the object is filled, your background is ready to be removed, so hit the ok button. This will finalize the background extraction.

The background of your object is now removed and your object is ready to be placed on other backgrounds. You can add a shadow to the object to look more realistic.
