Create and save a shape for later use . Easiest way to create and save a shape with Photoshop.

In this Photoshop tutorial, you will learn to create and save a shape for later use. Just follow the steps of this free Photoshop tutorial and you will see how easy is to create and save a shape.

Let's start with a new blank document and try to create a shape. First of all we select the Pen Tool from the Tools window and start creating a custom shape. We can do it from how many points we want, but we need a minimum of 2 points, so our shape to be closed. Maybe you are asking yourself how you can close it with only two points, and not 3 points. The last point we put should be over the first one to close the shape, so the 3rd point and the 1st will be the one and the same.

In my example the shape is made from 3 points. These are the main points of our shape. We will add some more later to customize it better.

Select the Add Anchor Point Tool and add some new points to your shape. You can do that just on the shape edges. You may add as many anchor points as you want and also can delete some of them if you change your mind about their usage with the Delete Anchor Point Tool. Once you added a point you can move it and also play with it to obtain the desired result for your shape.

You can notice that when the new point is selected there's a line with two other points in opposite directions. You can drag from those two points to model your shape. The more you drag from a point the more your shape will extend in that direction. You can also move those points to select the angle.

In the next image you will notice how my shape looks after I added 3 additional points to it. Of course, this is just a basic custom shape, so you can learn what tools you need to use. I'm sure your shape will be more complex and it will look much better than this one.

When your shape is ready and you want to save it for a later usego to the Edit section in the upper photoshop menu and click on Define Custom Shape.

After you have clicked on Define Custom Shape, a new window will pop up. Here you can give your shape a name.

Now select the Custom Shape Tool from the Tools window and click on the arrow located in the upper menu inside the Shape area. This will extend the window with all your Photoshop installed shapes. You can notice here the shape you just created. You can select it from here and use it anytime you want.
